A huge global disparity exists in access to essential Medical Devices, particularly Electro-Medical Equipment. This session seeks insight into the reasons for this global failure, points out obstacles, and suggests remedies — including regulatory issues, entrepreneurship in LMICs, and small-scale production and distribution by technology innovators. Two organisations are proposed: the Global Institute of Appropriate Technology for Mankind, and the Global Alliance for Equalising Access to Healthcare Technology (GAEAHT).
